Fairings have to come off. Be careful of the plastic pin on the nose between headlights. Get your finger up there to push on it to release from rubber grommet, and pull straight out. You'll also need a very small torx bit for the windshield.Nice Chris. I think the smoke looks much better than the dark. This is the one which I plan to install. I take it from the pics, that fairings have got to come off? Any tips on install?

It is a pita, but then you gain knowledge of how things come apart. Very impressed with the fit and finish of this bike. First Italian machine so it's all new to me. I've heard the horror stories with smoked shields. I've had one on every bike I've had and zero issues. My bikes are never left outside for long periods anyways.Looks great, but **** what a PITA to get on! Careful come summer time, the dealer warned me that some 1199 owners who switched the windscreen had problems with it acting like a magnifying glass and cooking their LCD, when left in the sun.
