Does anyone know how to clean and polish the white silk? A friend of mine with a silk white 848 said you weren't supposed to wax it. The dealer told me not to use anything with ammonia to clean it. What's everyone else using?

I did some research last night. You don't want to polish or wax the surface. Don't even use Microsoft towels as they contain silicone. The whole point of the matte finish is that it is dull and should remain dull. BMW is putting this paint on cars now. It's called Frozen Paint.

For these matte type finishes it seems to be durable and effortless to maintain but if you ever were to get a scratch on the surface it will be a pain in the butt.

So pretty much from the video I guess you just simply have to wash and dry.

The white silk is matte across the whole body?

If its matte than yea don't polish or wax it

Just clean it

You can use microfiber towels

NOt sure what a microsoft towel is.

Yes, it's all matte white. I don't know what microsoft towels are either lol. There is now a specific microfiber towel intended for matte finishes.

What kind of towels are those specific ones?
I haven't tracked down exactly what they are. The guy in this video references them about 1:10 in the video. Says something about them being edgless and they won't scratch the paint.

I also own a matt black Diavel and believe me you can't put anything on that beast which is slightly chemical!

For the Diavel I use Harley Davidson's Denim Paint cleaner and a micro fibre soft cloth. That's it and it works amazeballs.

For my 899 (which is white) I will use the same cleaner and let you know if it works, my guess is that I will need something a little stronger so may use Meguiars stuff...

I know on the DRIVE youtube channel there's a video on how to clean your bike safely, it might be worth the watch.

ahhh as my poor bike is tucked up in its Total enclosure system for the time being, this is good reading for me and it is good to know.
I wasn't told anything about what to use or not to use…...

Whoops, too late. I clean my bikes with the Motul cleaner stuff. Works great. I only ride the 899 when it's dry so it only gets a dry clean. The Multi gets the dirty jobs so a shampoo followed by a dry clean has him looking his best :) I had hope the Motul cleaner would offer more long term protection than long term damage.
