So, only thing holding me back is insurance.. Im getting quotes from $160~250 a month...

my buddy got the same quote and his came out like $75 a month..

I dont understand this.. he is younger then me.. has bad record... only this is.. he had his motorcycle license for almost 8 years.. and I have a permit on and off for years..

Could not having a license have this much impact?

can anyone recommend a good insurance company?

Also,.. I assume everyone with a loan gets full coverage?

what coverage? and deductable?

frustrated right now... this is the only thing that is holding me back from picking up the bike..

I have a '13 Monster 796 and pay $700 a year full coverage in Dallas. I was quoted $1700 for a 1199... this and I have a moped license and a 50cc restriction. They never asked how long I have been riding.

I have two cars on the policy, however. A '14 370Z NISMO and an older Porsche 911. Each are around $650 / 6 months full coverage. Everything with Allstate.

Does your pal have a home or kids? Sometimes one or both lend a hand in lowering the rates as you are likely to be less batshit crazy. I just turned 42, have the home (not the kids) and I am batshit crazier than ever.

*Don't call their 800 number and get some operator to quote you! Go to an agent as they are selling the policy to make $$$ and are more likely to work with you if they think they can sign you up. When I bought the Monster, they called the main line to switch from my trade in and it wound up being much higher. I called my agent once I got home and he knocked about $150 off / year. I paid off the note a month later, but decided to keep full coverage just because.

Good luck!

I have State Farm for $90/month. That was the best number possible. Full coverage with a $500 deduct. Depends a lot where you live. I got quotes from Allstate with my NYC address that were several hundred per month because of the theft risks. I used my upstate address and it helped. The insurance companies factor the region you live in, experience, record, miles you'll put on, displacement of the engine, etc.. Don't trust the online quotes or over the phone. Get a VIN from your dealership and have them run it for real. A common issue with quoting the 899 is its not in their system yet, so they will pull prices for the 1199 almost always first.

$298 / year with rider insurance and 100/300/50 full coverage with $250 deductible. 24 years riding experience. Best deal out there. Spoke to a rep at the dealership and they made it easy. Also, I did hear that next year or later this one, they may re-classify ducati, but if you have a policy you will be grandfathered in.

I have Allstate, paying 147$ a month, cheapest I could find at 22 with no accidents or tickets. The weird thing is for the 1199 they only wanted 120$ a month, apparently the 1199 is classified as a sport 4 and the 899 as a sport 5. Really makes no sense to me.
