Waiting to pick up my 899!
Hello all! My name is Dustin and I'm from SW PA. I am picking up my new 899 in red on Feb. 8th! I can't wait!
This is my first Ducati. I haven't ridden the 899 yet, so I am anxious for spring to get here
I've been riding Honda literbikes since I was 17 years old and now I have over 40k miles of riding under my belt now at 26. I bought a 2012 R1 in search of some soul from a motorcycle, something other than an inline four. Well, I like the R1, but unfortunately it's not even broke in yet. 6xx miles on it. The 1199 is obviously soul-stirring drop dead gorgeous, but I have no need for 200hp with a peaky powerband on the street. When the 899 debuted, I had to have it... and well... Here we are!
Looking forward to being a part of the group!

Welcome to the forum, great choice in red. I had an R1, was a 2008 model, not the cross plane, fasts as @!#* , bet never fell in love with it! got rid after a year! despite having the front end re set up several times never felt confident in the front end. You'll love the 899, picked mine up 20th December so not had much chance to play yet, but felt comfortable and confident in the bike from the first ride. Enjoy, and the 8th Feb be here before you know it
Thanks guys! I bought it in red. I haven't had a red bike before and the last three have been white, or I had painted white... so I opted for the red. Plus when I first looked at pictures and saw the 899 in person, red is what made my heart skip a beat!
After all this time on literbikes, I always loved the torque of a liter, yet yearned for the ability to run through the gears without jail time immediately type speeds. I know the 899 won't be a slouch, but it will be fine for when the wife is on the back and I'm not wringing out the gears, but need to haul another person... and it will be fun when I'm by myself running her a little harder I think and expect it will be my perfect street bike that I have been searching for!
