I know value and Ducati don't go hand in hand

But lets compare the value of the 899 anyways.

Its meant to offer more value compared to the 1199. So there is no doubt Ducati had to cheap out on some things to make the 899 the budget version of the 1199.

But at 15k. Its 1k more than the RSV4 and 1.5k more than the 675R.

At the end is it worth it?

You are definitely paying extra just because it is Ducati, and because it is tied to the 1199 Panigale. So it depends if you are turned on enough by Ducati or not. I am not completely sold on the 899 Panigale, though i will say that it is an awesome bike. Its a big purchase though, so you have to do your research.

Yeah when spending $15k on a bike, you really have to question if it's the right buy for you. How I see it the 899 is one of the best bikes around, I would buy it in a heart beat :D

in terms of styling I think the 899 wins by 10000 miles.

But the RSV4 is a great bargain when compared to the 899.

It'll be interesting to see how they compare in terms of performance since the pricing gets within range of each other. Can the 899 hold up ?

The Ducati is the Ferrari of motorbikes. Here in Europe, nobody wants a Thriumph Daytona, when it appears some for sale second hand is almost offered. The Aprilia is the same thing that bikes are not sold. Ducati even second hand has a great commercial value. I'm just saying that the DUCATI this point of view is the cheapest, even cheaper than the Japanese.

I live within 1 hour of two motorsports parks. The closest Aprilia dealer is about 3 hours away. Just not a practical option for me.

I think when you move into this price range, pure function is not really the issue - people pay for prestige, styling, etc. of a Ducati when yes, they could probably have a more comfortable and / or capable bike for a similar price.

Is it going to have problems though? I guess we have to wait till more people have one, but I am always skeptical to pre-order a bike or vehicle because you never know what surprises they may have in store for you.
For me, the only reason I'm trying for one of those first 300 in the USA is that they've worked a lot of issues out on the 1199 - the base for this engine and bike. The exhaust heat shield is a perfect example of customer beta testing that the 899 should benefit from.
