Hello everyone,

I have problematic front tire wear issue on my 899 track bike. The bike has OEM suspension an OEM wheels. The tires i use are Pirelli Slicks SC1 on the rear and SC2 on the front. The front tire starts to wear on the right side after about 25-30 rounds on my local 3.2.km track Rudskogen. The track has a lot more right turns than left, so more wear on the rigth side is expected. But this wear "eats up" the tire far earlier than expected.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this tire wear? I have also tried other tires (Supercorsa, Metzeler) with the same result. The suspension is, as mentioned, OEM. Only change I made is to change the springs to my weight.

You may have figured this out by now, but since the wear is so concentrated on one side to an extreme degree, something is out of whack with your forks, possibly a bent fork or something causing major stiction issues. I would inspect the forks very carefully, then oil level and make sure the springs were installed correctly, especially at the bottom. The stock suspension on an 899 leaves a little to be desired, even with a spring upgrade. I changed my 899 forks to Andreane cartridges, much more compliant and smooth compared to stock, not to mention affordable. I also went with a Nitron rear shock, amazing shock. Btw, sometimes too much rebound can cause major wear, but my guess is a bent or internal fork problem. I would have the shop rebuild it, unless it was a DIY job.
