Maybe too early to know - but does anyone know or heard about retro-fitting the 1199 Full TFT display on the 899?

This was the biggest disappointment that I had surrounding the 899

Gonna have to wait a while till a DIY guru with an 899 appears...

WELL.

The 899s LCD display is just a simpler version of the 1199's full-colour display, and 899 and 1199 share all the same electronics.

On paper it should take just fine. I'd say do it and let us know but the cost of one of those displays cannot be cheap...

As cool as that would be, i bet it will cost A LOT and might be an issue trying to get everything to work. Might not be worth doing. If you can get it done, i'd like to see.

I'll just remain hopeful it doesn't cost too much & someone will teach everyone how...

Even if I had an 899 at my disposal don't think I'd be ripping up the dash to "try" and make one work.. Just sucks it wasn't included.. Maybe on an S or Tricolour model?

Just the display itself is $ 892.00. Not sure what else you'd need but if it's plug and play I'd do it.

Absolutely!

No issues purchasing the display if it's just a plug & play type of deal... WELL worth it in my opinion..

Wish there was someone that could confirm

Any one investigated this further? I suspect it won't be as easy as just plug and play..

Theres another thread on this around here somewhere...

In any event. I asked the master tech at the dealer down here about it and he said that you would not only need a new cluster but also a new ECU, and he suspected even then that it would be "can of worms". Hearing that from a guy who is dismantling Superleggeras on a daily basis was enough to keep me away from the idea.

Might just have to wait for the next tier 899 with all the ecu goodies then just buy that.
