So there's a new style tank protector listed by Ducati for the 899, but nobody has them for sale yet. Quite unsurprisingly you can just put the 1199 one on and it lines up just fine. The new one seems like it has a more intricate shape, but it just looks like it would be easier for edges to peel up so I just went with the 1199 carbon one.

Also, a lot of places are starting to list 899 swingarm spools but say stuff like "coming soon" or "out of stock". Obviously with the DSSA you need to go with conventional spools but nowhere does it list the size. The actual size is 6mm, so that means any spool that are listed for Yamaha R1 and R6s (as well as certain Daytona 675s, and certain Aprilias) will work. These are just standard Woodcraft spools for a current generation R6 and they worked out just fine.

PS, the chicken strips will be departing soon, I just haven't had a ton of time to ride it since I got it! I'm a US Army Drill Sergeant for a job and it keeps me quite busy so don't hate lol

I think I'd wait for aftermarket for the spool/protector

The protector looks good though. The one you have pictured is the 1199 right?
Yes, that one is the 1199 one from this year. If you look on Ducati's site and go through the configurator you will see a different one listed but you can't get it yet. The official US launch of the bike isn't till Jan 2014 so it's a bit hard to get anything specifically from this bike. The spools are aftermarket (Woodcraft).

thanks for pointing out when the official U.S. launch will be, looking forward to the Jan 2014 launch. Do you know if it's going to be at some major event or a private ducati event?

LOL chicken strips. Not for anything but I always have chicken strips from street riding, Its just not safe enough to use all the tire on the street. If you're carrying enough speed to scrub the entire tire you've got WAYY too much speed for public roadways ;)

Just wait till you get her to the track hehehhh

I'm just basing that off the invitation I got from Ducati to buy an 899. it reads "The all-new 2014 899 Panigale is arriving in Ducati dealerships across North America and we are offering existing Ducatisti a unique opportunity to be amongst the first to own this incredible new model from Borgo Panigale.

Prior to its official North American premiere in January of 2014, three hundred Ducati 899 Panigale models will arrive in North America. Act now and you could have one of them in your garage by the end of the year"

Needless to say I acted now, lol.

I cannot WAIT to get this thing on track. Just hitting sweepers on some back roads the front end is so planted and confidence inspiring. The 1198 used to take a bit of steering effort to get it on line (at least I always thought so). The 899 is effortless. It's just as compliant as my CBR was with a significant jump in midrange grunt. I'm at about 350 miles now, and I'm loving it.

Been down the dealers this morning to finalise the paperwork, mine should be arriving in the UK early next week and hopefully ready for me to collect next Saturday. Was looking at the 1199 tank pad, but after seeing an 1199 in the showroom am having the Ventura shield fitted, removes the need for a tank pad and protects the vulnerable areas of the bike from stone chips etc. bit more expensive than a tank pad, but protects much more of the bike than a tank pad and leaves the original lines of the bike to be appreciated.

Protector looks beautiful! I'm gonna have to get me one soon! I work so much I wish I had time to break in my 899 and put some real miles on it! Currently has 50 miles! I just purchased a fender eliminator kit on ebay. I thinks it's made by NRG? Very sleek with an LED light strip for the signals. I'm still new to this whole forum thing so I don't know how to add the listing for you guys to see and check out. I'm also looking to pick up some Ducati mirror block offs but $150-160 for block offs? Kinda pricey!!!
