What's everyone doing for tank bags? The Ducati one works, but I'm not crazy about having to leave the mounting strap attached... or the chance of paint scratching... waiting for a Bags Connection option... maybe go magnetic? Might be looking for a stem mount option for GPS or V1 too...

Let's see some pics.

Thanks,

B

@Brainfry

I am looking to go toward magentic with a clear vinyl to avoid scratches on the paint. Maybe a strap one would work if you can turn it in to a magnetic one but just too much work having to cut the straps and sew in the magnets.

I noticed your signature, so how many bikes do you own at the moment? :p

Let me know what you go with... Bags Connection has some decent magnetic bags... ie, the "Sport", as does Aerostitch/Chase Harper. I need something that could support a V1 or GPS... unless I go with a stem/fork mount... RAM or Techmount... still deciding.

At one point I had an S1000RR, a Hypermotard, a K1200LT and an R1200GS Adv... then I moved to San Diego and a ONE car garage that has my 899 and my LT in it... something for distance/comfy 2 up riding, something for sport. Win/win. ;)

Keeping an eye out for now not 100% sure on which tank bag i'll end up with.

I was leaning towards the techmount stem type. I like where the location is perfect for my contour cam and garmin too.

Nice list of bikes! Hows the weather in san diego must be nice being able to ride all year round ;)

It's been cold(ish) and wet lately... dark early, depressing! Fingers crossed for the weekend! :D

I PM'd you the other day. You did not respond. So I am going to warn the community about you and your evil ways.

Community:

Be warned when dealing with this member and any oourchase he might offer. I purchased a "NEW" tank bag for the 899 from this individual. He stated in this thread that it is new and undamaged. I purchased for $225.00. Not a great deal but a bit less than retail. I love once I figured out hot it properly mounted to the motorcycle. I did not notice the modifications the member made to the tank bag nor did he disclose the mods in his representation of the item he sold. So, what mods did he make to the tank bag you might ask. Well he damaged to webbing by drilling holes out side of the gromits damaging the mounting points of the takn bag. All three have intentionally been damaged in his attempts to "make it tighter".

Webbing Beige Linen Tarpaulin Mesh

Pattern Textile Denim Jeans Button

Material property Tarpaulin Metal

I have asked him for a refund and he has chosen to ignore my request. So, I am posting this here and where evere he posts so the community knows not to purchase from him and to encourage him to return my funds for selling damaged parts.

Come on Brainfry, don't be a dick! give me back my money.

First of all, this is the first I've been notified that there was a private message for me. I don't check this forum every day. So I just read it. Secondly, way to flame me in an open forum before I have a chance to respond.
Finally, whatever those marks are by the grommet were certainly not drilled out or even touched by me. As I said, the bag was mounted ONCE and I took it off. It was in NEW condition when I sent it to you. As for the install instructions, I never even had any. It's pretty self explanatory how it mounts. You got a great deal on a great tank bag. I'm sorry if it's not to your liking, but at this point you're on your own.

To close, I've been a member on Ducati.ms forums for years. You've got 18 posts. I would expect my standing to remain in good order and I'm really not that concerned over your rant.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Brainfry,

You are a liar and a con. You most certainly put those holes in the webbing next to the gromits. You have posted more tha once your difficulty with adjustment of the system in your other postings. If you had any mechanical imagination you would have seen that they attach to the bolts of the gas tank and to the seat. Then the strap pulls tight to the tank without any play or movement. Took about 30 sec to figure that out.

What bothers me is that you damaged this while monkeying around with it and pass it off onto the community and me specifically as not damaged goods- THIS IS A LIE!

An honest person would take the goods back to save face. However your inattention to this matter and your complete unwillingness to work with me speaks volumes about your integrity.

Lastly, This is a great tank bag minus your damaging it, however, it is not an amazing deal. You saved me $25.00. Not that amazing in my book!

Regards.
