Hi guys, just registered, so a quick into from Manchester.

After many years admiring Ducati's and riding a friends 998 a few times, I've now decided to take the plunge and go for a new 899. I'm away on holiday in Mexico with the wife at the moment, (that's earn me the brownie points to buy the bike)but had a look at one the day before we came over, the day we get home I'm heading down to the dealers and ordering a "Red" one. The white looks lovely, but the red to me says Ducati. Plus it will match my old VFR750FR in the garage.

It's going to be a big change from the Jap sports bikes bikes I've been riding for many years, but the time has come. My last bikes (besides the VFR) have been a 2006 GSXR1000, 2008 R1, 2010 Fireblade, with a few track bikes thrown in.

Can't wait to get my hands on one now, so hoping Santa can be kind and have it under the tree for Christmas.

Cheers

welcome to the forum.
do you have any pictures of your bikes from the past? did you do any crazy modifications to them or kept it all basic and simple?

Thats what i noticed, crazy!
Usual things really, Gixer - Yoshi tri-cone can, PC III, custom map, used to spit flames on over run :) Pazo's, tail tidy, R&G's, tinted screen.

R1 - Carbon Yoshi's PC III, R&G's, tail tidy, Pazo's, tinted screen.

Blade - Taylor Made exhaust, PC v, tinted screen.

Loved the Gixer and Blade, but not to keen on front end feel of the R1, even after suspension set up at Kais. Can't wait to get the 899 now though......

I would love to see a video of your gixxer while spitting flames.

Where did you get your map tuned?

so what do you have planned for your 899?
Hoping to get the deal with the Termi's, was going to wait until March, get winter out of the way, but if they gona throw in £1500 worth of cans then nows the time. Have to get the seat cowl, maybe a tinted airflow screen, and from reading threads on here some decent foot pegs, can't quite run to the full rear sets just yet. Probably change the levers too, maybe Pazzo's.

Is this wrong - I'm here in Mexico with the wife on a fantastic 5* holiday away from the cold weather in the UK, just got back to hotel room after a great night out and a few JD's, enjoying a beer from the AI mini bar, and again looking at the 899 on the net and wanting to get back home to order mine!!! Just bought a new Shoei lid on line that will match the red one I'll be ordering in 4 days time (on the count down).

Hi mate, looks like a good matching lid for the red 899! I have a white 899 reserved at my dealership - just waiting for the Termi's to be fitted....

I am also from Manchester but have lived in London since 1999. My commute bike is a Diavel and the 899 will be my track machine! Can't wait...

@adeyrob

Lmao Its alright I have done something similar ;)

Bikes can really take your attention from many things including my fiance sometimes.

That is a nice brain bucket to go along with the 899. Awesome choice ;)
