Sat on one Yesterday

I was at the closest Ducati dealer yesterday (2 hours away) and sat on a 899 for sometime. Although it wasn't a planned visit since I was in the area for something else; I almost took one home. Even my wife was convinced that yesterday was the day. Then the sales guy came with sales b.s. wanting 1500 usd over msrp plus taxes, other fees etc. I didn't even asked for the final price. I told him to call me when he is willing to drop the bs charges. I'm not in a rush for buying. He also dismissed the comments about slippery footpegs as whining. So more reasons to walk away. Unfortunately, it is the only dealer around so when the time comes I will have to end up there anyway.
Now to the bike: it felt just right and light. It fits like a glove and even though I am 5'7" it didn't feel too tall or uncomfortable. Beautiful piece for sure. They had a white and red one but I didn't like the white one. Red called my name like she was made for me.

They wanted more than msrp? Absolute nonsense.
Wow, that is total crap. Dude totally lost a sale yesterday.

Far as the foot pegs, I've read a bit of that but they seem just as good as the 848's pegs were to me with my same riding boots

$ 1500 over. They are the only dealer around and they try to take advantage. I'll go somewhere else when I'm ready even if it means driving more

I kinda agree depending how far. I wouldn't go over 300 miles.

I bought from 848 from the nearest dealership, 115 miles away. Horrible experience. This time I bought from 899 from a dealership 130 miles away, awesome so far and worth the extra distance.

I went 450 miles to get mine, and they knew I passed about 5 others on the way, so they gave me a discount. I'd call around and try to find one like them.

We must be so lucky in the UK. I've 3 dealers in a 20 mile radius. Competition makes em look after customers and potential sales leads.

Yeah, and you get free termi's! They quoted me an additional $3k for a set...
Ducati of Omaha has a red one in stock. MSRP + $495.
I am in Jacksonville, my next choice is Miami, fl (336 miles away) or so we here in Ga so I guess I will wait a bit till they stop trying to butcher the customers. I don't have many choices around here. Initially I wasn't going to buy until summer anyway so I can wait and maybe some of the kinks get worked out by them. Meanwhile I will continue to drool at the pics and videos so post them up :)
