I tested the 899 a couple of times and I'm having a hard time deciding if it's for me. The problem is I never took it over 8k out of respect for the dealer. While it was quick in the low revs the power didn't feel much different than my monster 620 with a 14t sprocket. I'm wondering if this is good or bad? When the power comes on do you feel some force?

I tried the s1000rr out as well and if you got on the power the thing felt like it would effortlessly rip your arms off even before 8k. I know its not a good comparison, but it just felt really linear so it was predictable through it's rev range where the 899 isn't and I'm wondering how that affects street riding negatively or positively?

Also is it possible to change the gearing a bit to get more torque in the low revs without screwing up the electronics?

I find that there is a small gap in 5-7.000 rpm where the power delivery is not as good as in the low or high revs. But if you get around 8.000 you are going to feel silly. I have never ridden a monster but the ride position is so inclined that your whole body is shot forward. You feel like a cartoon where your body is gone and your head stays behind.

The monster isn't too bad as you can always tuck in if you want to do some antics. The handling isn't nearly as good though. The power is surprisingly okay, but I find myself riding at the or near the limit of the bike most of the time.

That's good to know, I'll have to see if there is a demo above 600 miles so I can put it through it's paces.

I'm not sure how I put this in the wrong forum lol!
