If they have those versions of the 1199 Panigale I would guess that they will also make them for the 899 Panigale. A tri-color bike seems like a logical step for Ducati. They make a a point of emphasizing the red, white and green color combo. I could see either a green Panigale, or a red, white and green color combo that would likely be done with racing stripes on a more expensive model.

Go big or go home, right!? Do you think many people will splurge and go for the S model? The 899 Panigale is already really powerful. Are people going to want even more power?

Of course they will! People want more and more power. More and more fun. As long as people are safe.

This is really a track bike. People won' be able to take the bike to its limits on the highway. Only for really experienced riders.

Not only that but bragging rights, plus it feels good to know you own the top model and aren't depriving yourself of anything when it comes to a specific bike.

I rather spend the extra and get the top model

Ducati is passionately committed to further development of the Panigale concept both on the track and on the street
pulled from an article about the 899s UK availability. So to me that indicates they are not exactly finished with the 899. But then we get into the question of how much over lap will there be between an 899 S or R vs regular 1199 Panigale?

I mean the inherant price jump on 899 Panigale S/R would overlap with 1199 pricing and at that point why not hop onto the 1199??

Likely, but still whats going to make the 899 S more attractive than a base 1199? Unless the 899 is going to be your dedicated track bike I see no point...

It would help if it were lighter than the 1199. From what I've read the 899 is better handling and has a more user friendly engine. I'm assuming the power band starts lower and is broader. The 1199 has way more power than needed on the tracks I ride on so I don't see that as a big advantage.

I owned a Tricolore, but (to be honest) it was just too much bike 99% of the time. That's why I'm moving to the 899, and I hope they offer a similar model assortment as compared to the 1199s in time.

Colour combinations like the Evo Corsa would be cool.

But once I spend more money on an already disproportionately valued bike like the 899, I would probably make the leap to the 1199 base and put it in wet mode for awhile.
