New track bike

Not exactly Ducati related, but just picked up a new garage buddy for the 899, a 20 year old CBR400RR (baby blade) track bike. Got it from a local bike mechanic who's tracked it for the past five years, engine is bullet proof. May take some getting used to the race shift, never tried it before. Hoping to get out at Either Oulton Park or Anglesey a week Saturday.

That would be a blast, I love small track bikes! In addition to my Panigale I have a Ninja 300 race bike, and it's honestly just as fun to flog that thing around as it is a big bike. And my last set of tires lasted a full season on the 300! GP shift is easy to get used to, just think "Push to go!".

nice! you get a good deal on it?
Yeah, not bad, came with a good set of wets on wheels, spare tank, new 520 chain and rental custom sprockets, various spare sprockets, spare HRC unit and a few other bits and pieces, £1100 all in, including delivery. Fairings in not bad condition, no cracks or damage other than the usual stone chips, going to order another set of track fairings and get them sprayed up as spares.

Last track bike a=was a VFR400NC30, a mate had the same model and we had a blast on them, great fun around circuits like Cadewll Park, these things fly around. I could lap Cadwell as quick on the 400 if not quicker on a TL1000R race bike I owned!! Carrys so much corner speed keeping the revs up to the limit:D:D

I hope so, easy enough to change back if I don't, but got to give it a good go. Can't wait to get it on track and give it a blast.
Oulton Park booked for sat 22nd March. 1st track day for a couple of years, since my eyes started going a bit and I should of worn glasses for riding! Has laser eye treatment recently so now back in the track saddle:D:D
Well, the first track day on the old baby blade went well, wasn't the fastest out there, but not the slowest either. 1st time at Oulton Park for a good few years, weather not best, cold with low track temp, showers and a big downpour at lunch time, glad I took the wet wheels as they were on for the afternoon sessions. The race shift took some getting used to and got it wrong a few times, but getting used to it, was just something else to think of! I'll persist with it, liked it when on the gas.....:D:D
Lets see some pics mate!
