Luggage options

I'm doing a couple of trips this year, firstly over to Assen for the WSBK at the end of April and Scotland later in the year and am looking at luggage options. Has anyone fitted the Ventura system on an 899 yet? I've had the Ventura system on a couple of previous bikes and still have the bag, so would just need to get hold of the brackets and rack, just wondering on the fitting points and how quick to fit. I had them on my 2010 Fireblade and could fit/remove the brackets in 5 minutes.

Or what other options has anyone tried yet, I'm not into riding with a rucksack due to an old back injury and definitely not throw overs or tank bags.....

I use a Kreiga R25 backpack, they are not like your normal bag, they have a quad lock strap system that carries all the weight across your chest and not through your back.

You hardly notice that you have it on!

They also have tail bags, most of which extra storage can be added to.

I added kriega tail mounts to mine. I can show pictures of how I did it if anyone is interested.

I have ordered the SW Motec Blaze Panniers. I like the looks and they are easy to mount and remove. They are expandable to 21 liters each so are great for trips 1 week or more. I also have the Ducati tank bag and matching tail bag (total 20 liters) for shorter trips.

Kreiga US series modular system is great. Premium quality and freedom to fit your needs for diferent trips.

I took some poor photos, but here we go. Just punch a hole through the straps and mount it to the rear two fairing bolts and in place where the grab handle bolts to.

Thanks for the pics. Is it fairly stable?

I have these on my ST3 and love them. Lots of room, light, easy to get on/off, and when they're off the mounting brackets blend right in.

Do you need the seat pad fitted for the krieger or can they be fitted over the seat pod if covered?

No, you don't need the seat pad. Revzilla does a really good review of them. Just search for it on youtube or on their website.

My work in progress. Getting things prepped for some GIVI V35s.

Which fender eliminator kit do you guys think would work best with this setup? I'm thinking the Corse Dynamics one but I don't have any experience with it. Opinions?

Ventura all the way, especially if you have the bags already. I dont have one installed on the 899 yet as Im waiting for my bike to arrive, but that will be one of the first things I do.

It does encroach on the pillion seat, if that matters.

RBW.

Yikes. Sorry my friend, but that detracts too much from the bike's beauty, IMHO.

Are you talking to me?

Just wait! It'll look way uglier when I put the hard luggage on. On the plus side I'll be able to take all the hardware off in less than 5 minutes so I can choose between beauty or practicality.

I'm thinking with the Corse Dynamics plate I won't have to futz with the License plate or plate light when switching back and forth.
Now that makes sense. Would not want to see it permanently attached! Personally, I have gone with the Ducati tank and tail bags. Total capacity only 20 liters so I'll just have to learn to pack light.
I use something called a "Jofama bag". Google it.

This isn't my bike but it should give you an idea of what it looks like.

No modifications needed, just put it on the passenger seat, strap it onto the passenger footpegs and ur good to go. 52 liters of space.

I have been having a ******* time trying to get the US30 Kriega to work.

Just isn't those bars in the undertail that I'm used to.
