Seems like allot of people are always cleaning their bike. I wash it maybe 2 times a year, 3 TOPS. I never clean it after a ride, just park it. I'd say I average a full wash (to me this means remove the side and belly fairings to clean everything) about every 3 or 4 thousand miles.

I did a full wash at about 2,600 miles because I've been caught in the rain twice and there were TONS of bug guts all over it. I probably won't wash it again until fall when I'll be at close to 8K miles. I was the same way with my 848.

Is anyone else as care free as I am about cleaning their bike and just using it, or are most of you guys super anal about it?

I clean it when it starts to look like it needs it. Not super thorough though, just get all the bugs off and shine up the rims. If I have it apart for service I will clean any real dirty spots that I see while she's naked.

I wash mine once a week. Depending on weather. If its been raining, i rinse the bike down then wipe it down with a microfibre cloth after the ride.

Well you guys inspired me. I did a complete wash on the 899 today and I also did a polish and a coat of wax. I'll do another tonight and a 3rd in the morning.

I used to use Zaino on all of my show cars and Formula 113 on all of my other stuff. I used the F113 on my 899 and the results are just as I hoped, I love the zero residue, especially in cracks and creases. When buffing I noticed a few spots on the nose fairing I need to hit with the 3M polishing compound again to remove a couple tiny bits of bug gut residue. Man that **** is tough to remove after it sits. Hopefully after several coats of was it will be easier to clean and protect the paint better.

I was going to do the Opti-Coat 2.0 thing but don't think I'm going to bother now.

I usually wash them once every week. Either by myself or the detailing shop. I'm from Thailand so I had the advantage over most of you guys, since we have lots of cheap and quality detailing shops. And btw, i always do the full detailing package with the best wax they've got.

Ha! You are VERY lucky! Aside from the 1 man operations around here that do show cars and hot rods, I wouldn't trust ANY of the detailers in my area
