Headlight Dummy kit

537 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Charles.Yul
Hello
In the interest of making the 899 less heavy, has anyone had any luck finding a dummy kit to replace the front headlight, in order to replace the headlights all together.
I dont mean a sticker to cover the headlight but removal and replacement with just a plate or insert made for the space.
Thanks

The space issue isn't a big deal, in all honesty, your bike will breathe much easier as the headlight sits right in front of the intakes.

Actually in my case is the weight, im trying to reduce the overall weight of the bike for Track use. Which is why I was looking for a dummy set of lights.
I ended up getting a moto holders Front frame and a Dummy front and rear light made of very light empty plastic, which are the exact shape as the OEM version.
By swapping out front metal frame and OEM headlight, the weight savings is about 4.5 pounds. I weighed the front frame and headlight in at almost 6.5 lbs.

I bought them both from www.kfm-motorraeder.de, but after some asking around I found out that ducati dealers can also get these components.
1. Ducati Headlight insert cover racing (97180082A), Quantity: 1, Price: 80,67 Euro
2. Ducati Tail light insert cover racing (97180091A), Quantity: 1, Price: 37,13 Euro

the spreadsheet below, indicates items ive removed with weights either recorded or assumed
