G'day, new member here from the Gold Coast QLD, Australia. Have been looking at the 899 Panigale for a while as an upgrade from my fun and reliable 2001 CBR600 f4i of the past 13 years. Here to get some insight from 899 owners before putting my $$$'s down in a few weeks.

Cheers!!

Sounds good Rowan, that's a local ride for me and a favorite. We've got some great riding options here on the Goldy :). Haven't put the $$$'s down on the 899 yet so would be good to get some first hand feedback. Which dealer did you use?

Cool. I'll put up the Ride Details here in the Events forum once we have the details squared away.

But it'll the Saturday the 19th April. Starting in Brisbane at the Emporium for breakfast then pressing on to Mt Tamborine and some GC twisties. @Nzjono @goldcoaster can you recommend any roads that are a must do?

Yeah I'm on my baby steps with this machine. Still getting used to the riding position (I'm from sport tourer learner bike background) and the temperament of 3 times the hp. I won't be chasing trophies that weekend on public roads, just learning my new bike and having fun.

In a month or 2 I'm keen for a track day school if anyone knows of any (I did the California Superbike School last week on my Honda CBR500R, it was awesome).

That MotoWhere site is GREAT!

I got mine through Gold Coast Ducati over in Nerang. I also recommend them. Yell out if you want to have a look at mine I ride into Surfers every day.

Id be keen for a ride too.
Went in and saw the guys at Nerang today since they are my local dealer, great customer service. Will probably put the deposit and order in tomorrow. Delivery estimate for a Red 899 is July..

Got mine from brisbane motorcycles, totally useless. Won't be back...
Either of you guys get burned legs riding in our temp?

I like the ride from beenleigh over the top down to canungra then through to nerang. Better corners heading to canungra from the mountain I think.

Yes, that's a good route also. plenty of good riding options on the Gold Coast and Hinterland.

I've been reading the heat concerns from some, how do you find it? I'm probably not going to notice it too much as the F4i generates a fair bit of heat.

I was ok with it but went for a ride over nebo and glorious last weekend back through fern vale to brisso and my thigh was blistered. I only noticed it when I was doing 60 though so not too sure where to from here. Don't let it put you off though its worth a few blisters
