Hello
I have wanted a Ducati since I can remember but the price was always too high for me or the bikes not available we're I lived before. Now that I can afford it, the beautiful 899 is on my scope. I currently have a Kawasaki Ninja 300 and before living in the US I had a Karpati (Russian little fun machine) and a CZ 250 (made by Jawa). Back to the 899, I really want it within the next month or so but due to the heat issue I will wait a bit because here in Florida temps can reach up to 100 +F; and I want to see what people think of it when the mercury rises. I drove almost 2 hours to the closest dealer to sit on one but couldn't test ride it. It felt a bit top heavy but ergos were fine. The dealer also sells BMW and even though they are not pretty bikes IMO the BMW S1000R felt a lot lighter at the top and more comfortable. I'm not very tall so either bike had me on my toes (I guess a lowering kit will be my first mod). Overall I love what I saw and will freeze my wallet on a nice cube so I don't reach out for it and buy the bike yet. See ya around :D

Thanks. I have a lot of fun reading on this forum. I hope to see more reviews and hopefully some videos of the 899 in action by the members here. I know it's cold in most places so that might have to wait.

Welcome to the forum! Glad you able to join our community. Most of the guys here from europe already have the 899 but don't have the nice weather like you do to get some seat time.

Do you plan on puting down a deposit soon?

I'm planning to get it sometime in the beginning of next year. Maybe Feb or March. I'm trying to put down 60 - 70% deposit. I don't like having loans and I usually save enough until I can pay cash for what I want or pay as much as possible. Will see how next year works. So far on track.

That is a good plan and if you wait then you would end up being close to having the full amount to buy outright. Loans suck for sure. I am wondering now if you going in to the dealer wanting to but it outright would they give you a better deal.
