Italian frame builder Pierobon has announced its all new frame developed for our friend the Ducati 1199 Panigale. The most interesting part of this news is that the Pierobon frame is a tubular trellis frame, not a monocoque frame which is what the Panigale comes with stock.

While the monocoque frame saved a lot of weight, it was also reported to be highly unpredictable by many professional riders in both SBK and MotoGP.

The Pierobon Panigale frame will be on display at the 2013 EICMA.

very interesting. I wonder what sort of work is involved in swapping out a new frame like that. What sort of modifications are needed. I can see 1199 owners interested in doing this if its not too difficult or out of reach.

It would be crazy if a good amount of the monocoque was carbon fiber like some supercars, just imagine how much faster the 1199 would be.
