Yo.

For anyone interested in that badass clear clutch cover you've seen on the 1199 Panigales, it will NOT work on an 899.

BellissiMoto - Ducabike Clutches

In case (pun intended) you didn't know the 899 case was cast in ONE piece vs two. Really poor thinking on Ducati's part, as a) you can't mount a badass clear clutch cover on it, and b) you can't replace the cover in the event of a slide without having to replace the WHOLE case cover...:eek::eek:

Hoping someone comes out with a slider for the 899 clutch case soon...

Wow, as soon as I read this post I went straight to my bike and checked it out. It's a really good thing you posted this before I dropped the money on a Woodcraft case cover! The only solution appears to be either buying one that bolts over the existing case (like that carbon fiber half cover from Ducati) or dropping 640 bucks to change those covers to magnesium....

I don't think so. I appreciate the heads up.

I'm confused now ......... various companies including R&G are saying there products fit the 899 but how can they if there is no bolts in the right place i.e. top right, because the casing is in one piece ?? do you just have very long bolt threads showing ? how attractive :(

You talking about a complete cover? Or just a partial/slider?

this is what i mean
That R&G cover on the right is clearly on a magnesium cover, so definitely not the stock 899 part. Either they have modified the cover for the 899 and are just showing the existing 1199 pic, or it's not going to line up perfectly. I'm still on the fence about what I'm ordering. Maybe Leo Vince CF cover for the other side, and the Ducati one for the clutch side.

The r&g photo is from their website page for 899 parts. But like I said they are not alone. I like the GBracing ones.
I'm not suggesting that the photo is not from their page. I'm simply stating that the clutch cover pictured is magnesium. The 899 does not have a magnesium cover. If it did, all the 1199 ones would bolt up and there would be no problem. Look at the pic on the left, and you'll note it's a one piece aluminum cover. That is the 899 cover. Now direct your attention to the R&G pic, and you'll see that it's the magnesium 1199 cover. I believe they simply reused the 1199 pic off their website rather than take a new one. Either way, they claim it will fit, so it should. The real issue is that without that magnesium part you can only fit covers that will bolt on over the existing one. You cannot use the ones that replace the clutch cover, like the Woodcraft one or Ducabike one unless you first fit the magnesium cover.

And so did Sato.

That's not too bad for all that magnesium.

Guys, while we are on the topic of clutch covers. I was wondering if this would fit our bikes. In the accessories 2014 book it states it would fit the 899, but I can't check my bike to see if it would mount correctly (I'm in another state from my bike)

What do you guys reckon?

EDIT: 899 ABS NOTE: Will only fit 899 when matched with magnesium clutch cover 97380081A

That looks really cool, and I'm a fan of your bike. But I might take the soft option and just by the mag cover.

The magnesium clutch cover 97380081A is $643 USD (maybe?) I might work some overtime and just upgrade that in the future.

Since the minor drop the other day, every time I see those little scratch dimples in the clutch cover it pi*ses me off. I have to replace it. Everytime I pull up and my mates go over the bike they see those marks and then I have to tell them what happened and I feel like a clown all over again. An expensive mistake.

Would fit when cutting the mountingholes and then kit it on there...

the carbon clutch cover for the 899 requires that you purchase the Magnesium Engine cover, which is a 2 part cover, giving you the same bolt up patterns as the 1199. This could theoretically make these other clutch covers work. The down side is that the magnesium engine cover costs about $600 USD

So are there any clutch cover protector for the 899 at all at the moment ??
yes, it just requires that you get the magnesium engine casing so you have a 2 piece engine casing, rather than a single piece.
