So I went out this morning took my bike out the garage started it. Went to put my back pack on & heard a band thought nothing of it. Went to my bike & it was on the floor. Couldn't believe it. Not sure how it fell but I kicked the stand to make sure it was fully forward as I always do.
Took it to the dealership to check it over & on my way the bike wouldn't change between 2nd to 3rd so had to ride in 1st & 2nd for 40 miles
Damage was gear lever broken + handle bars bent + gear foot peg bent + scuffs to fairings. Everything has to be ordered in so I've left the bike with them.
Any one know what average wait time for parts is?

OMG that's painful to hear! I dropped my 848 when new with ~800 miles, it went down at a dead stop in my friends gravel driveway and I went down with it keeping my left leg under it the whole time to save the fairing. Live and learn. It never happened again and my 899 hasn't yet suffered the same fate in the same driveway 5yrs later thank god lol.

Sorry to hear it!

I've dropped bikes in the past but this was with it standing on its own. So I asked them to check the stand etc. I feel so gutted just covered 200 miles & now it's in for repair. Hopefully won't be too long but estimate for repair is £600 with out fairings as I'm going to use touch up paint for the time being. I will get new fairings but in time.
I hope in a way they find a fault with the stand so it can he covered under warranty if not, well then there goes a few more mods out the window for a while

Ad_raz - sorry to hear mate. But i had the same thing happen to me with my 899. I was actually washing the bike on a flat surface and as i was wiping down the exhaust the kick stand shot up and my bike feel on me. Zero damage to the bike but the rearset went straight into my knee cap and blood was everywhere. Got a nice little scar there now. I think the kick stand is a bit to sensitive. So get them to look into it.

Haha true, even when new bikes come along the 899 will always be apart of me. :p

What i learned from that though is to never have the front wheel pointing straight when the kick stand is down. Make sure the wheel is turn fully. I think if the bike is on a slight incline or the vibrations from the engine move the bike a tiny bit forward causing the kickstand to shoot up. Who knows what the problem is but i know for sure now that everytime i get off the bike i make sure its standing solid and left in gear so it wont move.

Lesson learned here also..kicked the stand down at a standstill after I got home and thinking that the kickstand is down already (which in fact the spring effect pushed it back up) I tilted the bike and realise the kickstand wasn't there! Luckily I held on...lucky save..otherwise it would've ended up on the ground..hope your bike is ok mate..and the process to get it up and running is speedy.

Don't feel so bad. I dropped mine with 150 mi on the clock. Damaged the bar end and bent the front brake lever just a bit.

Cheers guys. Would anyone know if the 1199 fairings fit the 899. See a lot of 1199 fairings on auction sites at low prices thinking this could be the answer for cosmetic bits
Yes, they fit. The track body work Ducati lists for the 899 is actualy the 1199 bodywork.
