Hi Everyone,

I'm currently replacing a damaged clutch casing which I've removing and cleaned but once I removed the cover i found the centre gear cog inside had been chewed to bits - very worn. Now my questions are:-

  1. What part number is the gear cog??
  2. Is there anything missing from the centre cog i.e. a needle bearing of some sort??
  3. Is it simply just a swap over on the cog or is it a little more in-depth??
  4. If I don't change the gear cog what are the repercussions

My opinion,
First- order a new gear, replace it, it just come off and the new one slips right on.
Second- clean the crap out of the case cover and the mating surface. Add new sealer and mate the both.
Third- Drain the oil and fill it back up with cheap AT4 motorcycle oil, Castrol has a good one which is $9 a Quart. Then after about 50-100 miles, drain again. You do not want those pieces clogging your sump pump. The problem with the pieces from the gear is not that it can damage the inner engine, but it clogs the sump pump (oil pump). This leads to no oil getting fed to the engine
