I'm looking to purchase/install a camera for use on the track as a learning tool. I'm looking for recommendations on both camera models and where/how to mount them. I'm especially interested in getting good footage of corner entries and exits.

Thanks in advance.

I have a GoPro but I just picked up a Replay XD 1080p camera. I like the replay cause it has a mount that can swivel 360 degree in one location. I'm trying to figure out where to put mine also cause I really don't want to mount anything on my matte paint

That's a very cool little camera. I might have to buy one as a rear camera. :D

I've seen a number of videos with a camera that appears to be mounted somewhere on the passenger part of the seat. It provides a really good vantage point for turns and body position, but I can't figure out how they're mounted without modifying the seat or cowl.

I have not used my GoPro on the track, but I am confident this would give you plenty of options and provide you with the durability you are looking for.

Here are some shots of my GoPro mounted on my tank, and I will also include some cool mounting solutions that could be used to capture plenty of angles, including attachments to the rear of the bike so you can analyze body positioning, turns, etc.

Just treated myself to a GoPro Hero3+ Black. Will be trying it out on my track bike tomorrow at Oulton Park. Looks good and with the App on my iPhone I cav view it as setting up to get the best camera angles. Will update with how good the results are.

What mount did you use for your tank. I was considering just wearing my chest mount and seeing how it goes from there as I'm not sure I will want to stick anything to the tank ?

had a GoPro, but they nickel and dime you for accessories, no screen, their edit software sucks, not waterproof without a case

recently went to the Garmin Virb, built in GPS, Accelerometers for g forces, waterproof to IPX7 standards, screen, even a heart rate monitor if you wanted to buy the chest strap

Used my new GoPro on a track day on Saturday, some great footage. Used the App to my iPhone on WiFi to set the view, worked well. will put some links to the videos when I get round to doing them, which probably won't be for a week or two!!

I have the Midland XTC300 which I like a lot due to the shape and ease of use. Mine is not wi-fi streaming, but they make a model that does that now (XTC400). I've had 3 different go-pros in the past, they work well for sure but I don't like the shape of the camera, too bulky. I like the simple slider switch on top to turn the camera on/off, easy to do with your gloves on while riding on the track. Last year I had it mounted on my fuel tank, but this year I'm going to try the steering stem RAM mount as referenced above.

I'm also working on a high-end GPS-enabled data acquisition & video integration package for the track, should be pretty cool when I get that done!
