I'm getting an issue where my 899 shift lever won't go from 2nd to 3rd quite often. With clutch the shift lever just won't click upwards. With DQS, the bike will jerk/hitch pretty bad and then it'll still be in 2nd. After pulling up on the shift left a few times, wiggling the clutch and the throttle, it'll eventually pop into 3rd, but it's really not good. Dangerous, even.

Anyway, my break-in service is 1 week from today, I'll have them check it out, I just wanted to see if this is something that anyone else has experienced?

No I've never had that issue. I imagine it would be pretty scary to have the gears behave like that - I remember feeling that way during the early stages of break-in when the 1-2 DQS went into neutral (most likely my fault as well for not being firm with the shift) and the bike revved its head off at me.

To be honest, if my bike behaved that erratically, I wouldn't ride it until the issue was fixed. Good luck and let us know once its resolved!

I have this same issue happen when I am riding in my boots. I figured it was the fact that if I kept my foot under the shifter, it wasn't able to fully reset itself for the next shift. Be nice to know what the fix is assuming I need to bleed my clutch.

doubtful...I think this is just a issue with the transmission. Mine has been doing it and I've bled my clutch a couple times already...

I've noticed mine refuse to upshift with DQS if the revs are too high. It seems to do it sporadically.

However, this might be due to my (now former) rearsets. I had the Ducabike ones, with only about 500 miles on them, and the bolt holding the shifter to the rearsets (also the bearing surface of the shifter), sheared off mid ride. It was a trick to get home in 4th gear.

I put on Woodcrafts last week, and they seem MUCH beefier. I've yet to be able to ride it enough to know if the shifting is smoother.

Mine does the same thing. Only at high revs when using DQS. I think there was a thread where someone else had the same issue somewhere, solved with a new DQS sensor. Seems like an unlikely cause to me though.

I've been away from my bike for a while but 7500 mile service will be due once I get back, I was going to have it checked out then.

+ 1 on issue with Ducabike rearsets.

I sent them back and they machined a new 'bearing' for the shifter assembly as it used to keep wearing itself loose (came off mid session on track)

All good now, but in retrospect style vs substance didn't pay on this one :)

Hmmm... now you got me thinking?

I've had issues sporadically with quick up shifting, regular clutch shifting has never been a problem... I thought it was due to my new boots being stiff as my old boots don't have an issue with shifting, and I also thought that the quick shift maybe only works with hard acceleration as it doesn't seem to shift readily when just cruising? Not sure if RPM's and accelerating hard are needed for the QS to function properly?

All DQS does is cut the throttle for a split second to take load off the tranny so it can slip into the next gear. You can do this on any motorcycle on your own if you're good and the timing is right by chopping the throttle closed and back open. Clutchless shifts need to be quick to be smooth, the DQS is no different. I only use it for ripping through gears at high RPM. I would not use it for lazy shifts when just cruising around. Try it at slow speed and it's a rough shift. It's just not the intention of the feature.

OP. I complained to the dealership about my clutch needed to bled once every week. When I took my bike in to get the water pump replaced they also replaced the clutch master cyclinder with a new one from brembo. Problem fixed. Months have passed since then and I have yet to need to bleed the clutch nor do I have any problems shifting. Its actually buttery smooth now.

Did you ever find a fix for this issues? My 1199 is doing the same thing. It won't shift into third unless I'm high in the rpms. Once the bike is fulled warmed up and hot, then it'll shift like normal. So far I've tried changing the oil, bleeding the clutch completely.

I'm experiencing the same problem. 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gear. I couldn't upshift with my DQS on. I need to clutch in to change the gear instead. It's intermittent. It's like the DQS is not sending the signal sometimes. Has anyone found the issue?
