TAGGED.

I'm researching these now as well and will be buying one. Almost every signal7 I've run when coming across a motorcycle involved crash has been from a broken neck or brain damage from not wearing a helmet.

I'll post up some reviews I find on various vests and maybe we can discuss what is best for the $$.

Note: There are three collisions in every wreck. Vehicle/bike to object, body to car interior/bike and internal organs into other organs and chest wall.

I like that this version not only encompasses your neck keeping your C-spine stable but also your back and thoracic area covered to help decelerate your organs. It can only do so much though. If you hit the side of a car in a T-bone type accident your aorta can tear from your chest wall killing you in seconds. This is due to the rapid deceleration of your organs after your body stops.

Now this one is good and from a trusted name but again, only concentrates on the neck. Good for track, not so good for street riding as it lacks body protection.

And here is cheap option but again only concentrates on the neck. But it does come with a CE approved chest protector. This however is only good for blunt force intrusion and does not help for organ deceleration.

Impressive. I'll be looking in depth at these…..

He was fine walked away from it. I think there were 4 or 5 bikes that went down that day. Only one got hurt. Broke his colar bone.
See if you can find out what brand model he had. We need to get any data we can on these. We review how suits and helmets holdup but we don't have data on these airbags yet so we need all the data we can get.

I know this is kind of late, but thought I'd give my 0.02. I've got a Hit-Air vest (black reflective). Last year I low sided my VFR and slid into a guard rail. The vest deployed as advertised. I had some pretty serious bruising in the torso areas not covered by the vest. Makes me think it would have been even worse without it! The full coverage (neck and torso) is nice compared to other models. I'll be interested to learn more about the ducati system (as well as the other branded models as they are released), but for now, it is pretty hard to beat the 500ish dollars. I'll admit it isn't the sexiest piece of gear, but then again I'm wearing a motoport suit so I wasn't looking that sexy to begin with!

How can you hate liberals and ride a 899? I thought all the ******* hillbillies have harleys
By your comment I would assume your a liberal. So you're assuming all Ducati riders are liberals?

You also assume Liberals don't ride Harley's. Well if proving yourself an uneducated blithering idiot was your goal here, you succeeded as I know conservatives and democrats alike that ride both.

Take your head out of the sand and back away from the keyboard. You've proven your incompetence on the matter. No reason to make it worse. Move along troll.

I have a Helite Turtle vest for sale if anyone is interested...its been worn 3 or 4 times (never deployed!!) This is the top of the range vest from Helite. It retails for £475 (in UK) and I'm open to sensible offers

I had a low side in September and broke 7 ribs partially collapsing my left lung. I thought I'd be good to go by now but the Dr. says no riding this season. I bought a heavy duty rib protector and was thinking about getting one of these air vests.

I talked to the guy at Hit-Air. This is a lanyard type system so I'm skeptical that it would help much with the initial impact although he claimed it would. I'm not exactly sure when I broke my ribs but I think it was after i hit the ground and was sliding along the asphalt. When I hit the dirt I started to tumble and I think that's what did the damage.

Apparently it takes quite a bit of force to deploy. He was telling me guys get off their bikes all the time and start to walk away until the lanyard pulls tight then they remember to disconnect.

I'm about 90% sure I'm going to order one but not in a huge rush at the moment. Going to try a track day at the end of May.
