I sag my suspension as far as possible and sometimes on a slight tilted ground the bike feels like it going to tip over. And its hard to get a grip on the stock stand when i'm on my race boots.

I had lowered my an inch or so and my bike would sit too straight up when parked. I wanted to keep with the styling if the stock kickstand, so I bought one off eBay from a wrecked 1199. Did you take an inch off from the top and re-drill the hole? I'm interested in shortening mine!

The first pic shows where I made the cuts. I took it out where the lines lined up the best so. It's magnesium so a specialist was needed to do the welding. The second pic shows the stock one and the finished one.

Would you mind posting a picture of the bike from the front? I'm curious to see how much the bike leans after shortening. - Plus I love your color scheme :D

The weld is just as strong as factory. Magnesium stock was used so there isn't an issue with metallurgy. If anything, the stand will fail at the bolt first. This is really the only pic I have. It's from the rear. I took it during the test fit. Before the weld was polished up and painted. It's sits at an 10 deg of lean. Stock was at about 13 I think before I put the lowering links on. For comparison, with the links on and the stock stand, she was only leaning at 4 deg. Made me very nervous. ImageUploadedByMotorcycle1416423920.290444.jpg

Do you know if this is any lighter than the stock kick stand?
I don't know the weight of either the stock kickstand or this aftermarket one. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

if anything that stand is stronger because it doesnt' get as narrow as it did before

Just curious, did you sag the bike? or got it lowered with certain link?

I installed the Sato Racing adjustable link. But I used the one for the 1199. The 899 version only drops the bike 20mm or so. Which I can get in sag. But that makes the rear to squishy. The 1199 version drops it about the same on an 1199. But the 899 is set up to use the equivalent of the progressive setting. If anyone goes that route, I have mine set to 138mm to the center of the bolts.

As far as ride quality, most importantly I feel more secure on the bike. Cornering is like its on rails. I can toe drag and feel in complete control. The bike still remains very responsive.

Thanks man, any side profile pic of the lowered 899? Im really curious to see the bike installed with sato link, cause i was thinking to buy sato link too.

I'm confused why you installed a link to make the bike lower. Is it your height or are track bikes typically lower to the ground?
