Working at a dealer myself I can say that those numbers are in the ballpark.

However, that being said, retail from our dealership with high guesses on tax and tag. (All depends on county and birth month) would bring you to 17,269.44 OTD

Where each dealer differs is in their "dealer fees"

If you're curious on how we get that number, message me and I can break it down for you. Good luck with your purchase!

What would be the selling price for just the bike (white). I pay tax and tags directly to the state.

Comparing this to the 1199 S which they have a 13 left over model for 23.5 OTD.

Not seeing the "value" in the 899 like I originally was drawn to it.....17.5k OTD is more than a new RSV4 or bmw s1000rr. Not to mention way more than a ZX10 or anything else. Its the same price as the MV F3 800.

****, I paid 16.5k OTD for my 09 1198 when they first were released!

$23k OTD is pretty sweet considering the price the 899 goes for OTD.
I guess we might see this transition more as people educate themselves more on the 899.

The 899 Panigale is supposed to be a cheaper 1199 Panigale. It just depends if people think it is cheap enough to attract more buyers. At a certain point you don't attract more people with a $17k bike than you do with a $23k bike. Both are expensive. If you are willing to spend $17k, $23k isn't so much more.

It doesn't always come down to the 899's pricing alone for most people like me who are planning on buying an 899. I really do not need 198 HP and the higher insurance costs associated with a higher powered motorcycle.

My dealer quoted me MSRP plus $ 495.00 for freight and prep. I was a bit put off by that. I sold new boats for a few years and the factory invoice included what the freight and prep charges should be. We never charged the fee unless the boat was unusually large and had to come on a flatbed tractor trailer. If I can't negotiate those charges away I'll probably hold off until spring or check out a few other dealers. They did offer me 10% off accessories including the Termi.

@rjjr sucks that freight and prep can't be negotiated or can it? on a bike like this it might be a good idea of some dealers wave that charge, their profit on the 899 has to be good.

I was basically able to get mine for MSRP + tax/fees OTD. None of the freight and prep.

I was told it was coming this month, but no word yet...

MSRP on the white is $15,295. If we were to not tag the bike it would need to be trailered or shipped.

Also, if your home state is tax-reciprocal with ours (FL) we can collect your home state's tax rate. Our state tax is 6% and local county 1% additional.

Otherwise we are required to collect local tax and then it will be refunded at your local DMV.

There is a freight charge to get the bike from Italy, a setup charge to assemble the bike to make it road ready, a tire & battery impact fee for the state, and a dealer fee to handle all of the paperwork for your transaction.

This would bring your OTD to $16,400 ballpark.

So do you plan on just going in to purchase or will you be dropping a deposit to lock one down?
I put my deposit down last month. I was given the invoice and everything. Bike should be in this week.
