aescobedo I have noticed mine started cracking at the end of last year and have not take it to the dealership yet, @craigstuartmcgregor any luck with that? My theory is that if you keep your motorcycle in a very hot and humid place for a long enough period of time it might start cracking. For example, on my case I hired a company to haul the bike from PA to UT and the temperatures inside the semi-trailer container might have affected the display, thoughts?

jumpman I have a cracked screen as well but unsure whether its from 'natural' cause or vandalism. Couldn't get a claim from the dealer as well. Installed screen protector as a measure. So far it held up fine.

craigstuartmcgregor How did you cut out with the dremel. If I don't have any luck with Ducati it might be worth a shot .

Pan164le Hi, the 899 and 959 have LCD screens that run ‘cool’ so it’s unusual to get a crack. The TFT screen in the 1199 runs hot and cracking was common.

The screen material is 3mm thick polycarbonate and whilst it looks like a press fit, it’s virtually welded onto the back part that holds the electronics. Impossible to remove without care and commitment.

I had to use a Dremel to cut the screen out of mine, due to a crack (1199) then cut a perfect copy in the shape of the screen and bonded using silicone. Concealed the edges using a carbon dash trim.

They can be repaired, but it’s a careful job, and I could imagine it’s easy to screw things up!

By the way, my 1199 screen was bought cracked. At £112 versus £600 I decided it was worth seeing if I could repair it, to upgrade my 899.

It worked and I’m happy.

sinjin I meant if it were the windscreen causing the issue by magnifying the light hitting it and causing the plastic on the instrument cluster to become hot and crack... referring to the previous comment in regard to double bubble screens causing instrument clusters to crack or melt.

craigstuartmcgregor Ducati in New Zealand is not playing ball so I'm going to take them to the small claims court.

craigstuartmcgregor It is not the windscreen, it's the instrument panel clear face.

sinjin If it were the windscreen, I would have expected signs of melting vs cracks forming.

I have heard of the 1199 developing cracked screens, but this is the first time that it has been raised with the LCD.

XCLR8TN Pics? Do you have an aftermarket windscreen?
