I added years to the factory warranty, but declined the tire and wheel coverage since I knew I would be upgrading. If you are keeping your stock wheels, then it makes sense to consider it.

I purchased the tire and wheel on the RR because of the Supercorsa tires and forged wheels that came as stock.

I would add both if I were buying a 1299S or R.

2014 Panigale 899 - Red
Termi Exhaust, Rotobox Wheels, NRC Fender Eliminator, Rizoma Rearsets and Reservoirs, Yoyodyne Slipper Clutch, Ducabike Clear Clutch Cover, CRG CF Levers, DP Fuel Cap, 'R' Seat Cover and Decal Kit

2015 BMW S1000RR - Red
HP4 Wheels, Full Akrapovic titanium Exhaust, Bonamici Rearsets, Competition Werks Fender Eliminator and Integrated Tail Light,
Rizoma LED Indicators, Fuel Cap, and RRC Levers, R&G Sliders and Rear Spools

Where I live is the "Nail in the middle of the road" mecca. I swear I get 1-2 nails in each vehicle a year. It's a necessity here in south Florida!

Trust me when I say that Dallas isn't much better. My wife has replaced all 4 tires on her Q50 and a couple more than once due to nails and debris in the road. However, if you are not going to keep your stock wheels and / or upgrade to more expensive tires, make sure the policy you purchase will cover the additional cost.
