if its the head gasket I would think its coolant, not oil. Its also unlikely that the head bolts have worked their way out. I'd bet on the gasket blowing though. How many miles are on the bike?
With the exhaust cover on the bike it is very difficult to see but check the valve cover gasket on the rear of the vertical cylinder. Mine is leaking directly above the area your puddle is accumulating. Luckily, I removed the exhaust cover and can see exactly where mine is coming from.
The bike has 13,000 kms , It
Coming from the bottom head gasket from
Both heads front and rear .
It’s definitely oil not
Coolant .
Someone has messaged me on a different site saying , some bikes had a issue where the head gasket oil seal would fail .
If it’s a head gasket replacement on both heads , anyone know estimated shop time ?
I have the same leak since, well since about 6000miles. I don't know the estimate for this particular issue, but valve adjustment is quoted at something like 15 hours, so I would imagine a couple of hours added to that. My bike now has about 15000miles, the leak hasn't gotten worse (not from there, I have other leaks...), am looking forward to taking care of them with the valve adjustment.
It's possible the header bolts worked themselves loose. It happened to me during a trackday. Fortunately the oil collected in the bellypan, and didn't make it onto my tires or the track. I believe the bill was around $1200, but I was fortunate in that I had an extended warranty.
Huh, mine also has a leak from the valve cover gasket, and also the cam cover seal on the side, too. It's not a lot of leak, more like a little smear, but it's quite a few places. The valve adjustment is coming up on mine very soon, and I'll probably have it done at the nearest dealer (I just don't have time with too many projects needing my attention right now), and it's all the places that they will have to get into, so I'm hoping that it'll be taken care of at the same time.
Definitely valve cover gaskets easy fix once you take off the rear subframe, i would recommend getting a new gasket and some three bond costs around ÂŁ25/30, ones you take off the heat shields you can see where its leaking from.
yup. mine now too. I see dirt building up around the valve covers, but i have oil running down the side of my clutch cover and i see bubbles coming out of the head gasket too...I'm scared what its gonna cost to get this sealed up again
so, i was definitely able to see it was the valve cover... it appears they don't use an sealant on it, beside the half-moon sections.
