899 lowering question

I just picked up a 899 that I need to lower for my G/F she is aware geometry will be affected. I need to lower 1.75" , Someone was saying shaving the seat and lower profile tires are a few drinks before touching suspension.

Anyone have some experience or advice?

I switched mine out for an 1199 seat, it's not as tall as the 899 seat. I'm a shorty at 5'8" but I manage.

Newer 1199 is the same height as 899, it's the same seat.

If you can find an early 1199 seat (2012) it may be a little shorter, but the material is much more slippery as well.

I actually may have one of the early ones, I'd have to check.

You can see the difference in shape where it meets the tank.

2012 1199:

I shaved down my seat but then my legs felt too cramped. Tried lowering the suspension but hated the negative effects. Ended up back with the stock seat and learned how to control the bike on my tip toes. lol

Lowering is an exercise in lack of confidence and experience. The 959 is not a beginners bike.
Best advice IMO is don't do it. You'll be throwing millions in suspension R&D out the window.
95% of your time in spent on the footpegs. She can be on one leg for the remaining 5%.

sinjin and arcticwhite like this.

Current rides:
2016 Ducati Panigale 959 (Arctic White)
2016 Ducati Monster 1200R (Thrilling Black)
