So, I just got this: Ducati 1199 Panigale R Corse 2014 Ohlins Rear Shock Suspension | eBay ...and I know it was a risk not knowing beforehand, but it should be fairly easy to have these electronic adjusters exchanged for manual ones, right?

Also, the ad says it's from a 2014 1199 R, but who knows if that's true(I really don't care), but is there a way to tell if it is really relatively new as opposed to like a 2012 that will need to be serviced? Or, should it be serviced anyway since it probably needs to be sent somewhere for the adjusters?

Thanks for any help

Ya, you can get those removed no problem.

It cost me about $340 to have the 1199 shock sent to Ohlins and have the servos removed. They also had to change the valve stack for the 899 and I got a slightly stiffer spring.

Awesome! I'm taking it all to GMD Computrack in Fairmount, GA next weekend so he's going to decide what all it needs in terms of valves, springs, etc, but that price is music to my ears!

...Also doing the Racetech Gold Valves in the front:D

Be aware that a fair number of special tools are required for this modification. There are several hundred PSI of nitrogen in the shock, and disassembly out of order will result in projectiles flying around your shop in ways that could cause grievous harm.

If this is not something you've been trained to do, then you should probably engage a properly equipped shop. If this is something you have training on, then I'll proceed forthwith to shutting up.

All of that being said - this is a great modification for the bike and something that's really worth it. It's not so much that the shock itself is that much better, but rather that you can get a range of springs for it easily, and that makes tun ins sooooo much easier.

Good luck @shawniam!

1299S Stock Shock converted for 899

Have bought a 1299 Ohlins shock from former GP pilote Steve Jenkner who now has a Ohlins Service Point at Sachsenring in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany.
He serviced the stock shock with now manual adjusters. Now like a brand new TTX36 but saved 350EUR.

The first test drive on street went well but can´t say anything about performance. First track day is in May. I will report.
But I would recommend never try to change the adjusters by yourself.
